Holiday Day 1: Thursley Common

Participated in the British Dragonfly Society weekend based at Juniper Hall FSC. Visited Thursley Common, an important dragonfly site with pools and a lake, within a wet heathland. We saw 11 species of dragonflies and damselflies, as well as Dartford Warbler, Hobby, Adder and Raft spider. In the afternoon we went to Bolemere County Park. This was an idea site for some pond dipping for dragonfly larvae. Jane was happy to give it a go. Saw Crassula helmsii for the first time.In the evening after a good meal there was a lecture and we also looked at some larvae. We camped at West Horsley.
